2018 News & Results

Here's what happened...

Wow what a year 2018 has been for the club! We've done it all, from celebrating big birthdays, competitions, promotional videos, activity days, national events,...international events and more!

Here's our 2018 in review ...

Back in January our 4 Piece Women's Artistic Squad took the floor for the County Grades competition. Passes all round, many personal achievements, plus 3 places on the county team was more than well deserved by the girls who had worked hard for many months in preparation for the competition!

February saw us celebrating yet another 50th, this time for Coach Bobby. Before we knew it, March was upon us and Rhea, Ella and Philippa represented Cheshire and Merseyside at the Grades Regional Finals.

March was also the first call up for our British Gymnastics Medal Team who were in action at the British Artistic Gymnastics Championships over 4 days at The Echo Arena in Liverpool.

Their job didn't end there as they were also in action (and on TV!) in Birmingham for the World Cup! Megan Palmer also joined the National judging line up at the British Championships in March where she judged beam as a National Judge for the first time.

In Easter we held some amazing activity days and it was time for our Boys Squad to shine in their first competition of the year.

May saw us celebrating yet another big birthday! Charlie's Old Gezzers (COGs) enjoyed cake for Bobs 90th Birthday! It was also time for the Display Team to kickstart their events calendar as they took to the floor at the 2018 Scottish Gymfest at the Aberdeen Conference Centre. They debuted their Pitch Perfect routine to over 1,000 people across the 3 day event in serious sassy style!

In June it was the turn of our youngest members to take centre stage as we held our annual tots presentations and the whole club got behind international handstand day.

July was a busy month for the Display Team, who started the month at the York Gymfusion event where they really stole the show. They then attended back to back local events across a number of weekends in 30 degree heat (yes we did have some nice weather for a

change!). Our squad gymnasts also showed us what they can do at the first of our Hartford Sets competitions. A day full of smiles and fun, saw over 100 gymnasts show their friends and family how hard they've been working in the gym. 5 of our amazing

coaches, Steph, Heather, Hannah, Heidi and Ellie all passed their level one coaching exams!

In August we held our summer activity days and our adults took to the floor in the Adult Gymnastics British Championships. Kathryn, Lucy and Julia performed amazing routines. Kathryn came away with a national medal for her trampoline routines and Lucy was crowned British Champion in the 4 Piece Women's

Artistic Newbie Category.

The Medal Team we're back in action in September at the Tumbling and Trampolining British Championships in Birmingham. A busy weekend for the team who had to really adapt to lots of last minute changes!

October soon came around and it was over to the Display Team for their final event of the year in London. They finished Pitch Perfect off in style with many compliments from other clubs and the event organisers. You can watch their performance here -

Our 4 Piece Women's Artistic Squad were in

attendance at the North West 4 Piece and Cheshire and Merseyside 4 Piece Championships in November. A huge number of personal achievements and new skills were nailed over the two competitions and medals were picked up by Lotty, Katie H, Katie R, Eleanor, Abbie and Pippa who was also crowned Cheshire and Merseyside Champions for her respective category. The girls also enjoyed a 6 week session of Zumba with Carla to help with their artistry. The Northwich Promotional Video was also launched which we were incredibly proud and honoured to be included in, you can see it here https://www.visitnorthwich.co.uk

December was upon us in the blink of an eye and our Squad gymnasts wowed us again at our Winter Hartford Sets competition. Another great day for all gymnasts and our friends from other clubs. We are so proud of how hard everyone worked and it was great to see

everyone showcasing new skills and routines.

Our Boys Squad were also in adaption again, this time for their grades competition. The boys were marked across all apparatus with their end score determining whether they would receive a bronze, silver or gold medal. It was amazing to see how hard our boys have

worked this year and the skills they were able to demonstrate to their friends and families.

Girls 4 piece Regional & County successes

Another brilliant set of results from our 4 piece Womens Artistic Gymnasts over the past2 competitions.

The girls sparkled at the Northwest Artistic Championships in Wigan. Most of the girls had moved up to new levels and all had new skills to showcase and what a great way to start.

They all achieved their personal targets and Abbie Walker & Philippa Meachin also climbed onto the medal podium with medals on Beam & Floor in some very tough groups.

With the County Championships following just a few training sessions later, the girls went back into the gym and worked hard ironing out little wobbles to help them improved their scores. You can see how hard they worked by their results at Cheshire & Merseyside County Championships.

Philippa Meachin is now County Champion & also won 3rd Vault 1st Bars 3rd Beam 1st Floor. Katie Hall 3rd Beam 2nd Floor & 3rd Overall, Eleanor Ma 1st Vault, Katie Ridge 3rd Beam, Abbie Walker 1st Beam 2nd Overall, Lotty Purdie 2nd Vault 1st Bars.

Amazing results also from Taylor Jackson on Floor, Mollie Stamper-Clark on Floor, Amy Buckley on Beam, Daisy Purdie on Bars, Rhea Carless on Bars, Rea Gaskill on Beam. These girls all improved on their scores and some just missed out on the medals.

We were extremely proud of our 2 newbies to 4 piece competitions... Emily Fish sparkled on all 4 pieces along with Mia Heywood who performed neatly throughout.

A Big THANK YOU to our National Judge and comp judging convenor Megan Palmer & Regional Judge Alex Fielding, our gym family for their support and the Coaching Team who work with these amazing gymnasts.

Our 4 Piece Girls just go from strength to strength!

11 girls went to the North West Regional Championships with 1 aim, to show their families how hard they have been working on new & existing skills. With most of the girls moving up to a new level of competition, their focus was on securing those skills and enjoying their competition, and they certainly did that!

Medal successes came from Abbie, Bronze on Beam & Philippa, Gold on Floor and a 4th place overall. We are very proud of all of the girls. They all performed brilliantly and achieved their own personal targets too.
